Personal films
Scope and Contents
The collection primarily consists of the personal films of Katharine Hepburn, as well as several feature films starring Hepburn donated to the University by her brother-in-law Ellsworth Grant. Many of the personal films were originally created by Ludlow “Luddy” Ogden Smith who was married to Katharine from 1928–1941. The personal films include behind the scenes footage of films such as The Little Minister and Sylvia Scarlett, as well as Hepburn’s life outside her career in Hartford, Fenwick, Hollywood, and her travels abroad.

Conditions Governing Access
The collection contains some restricted materials. Original film reels are not available for patrons to view. Patrons may view digital copies of the films, when available. Some films may contain restricted portions that will be redacted from the digital copies.
